          Torah : Numbers 4:21-7:89| Prophets : Judges 13:2-5

                                      Confession and Restitution Chapter 5

5 5 Adonai said to Moshe, “Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘When a man or woman commits any kind of sin against another person and thus breaks faith with Adonai, he incurs guilt. He must confess the sin which he has committed; and he must make full restitution for his guilt, add twenty percent and give it to the victim of his sin. But if the person has no relative to whom restitution can be made for the guilt, then what is given in restitution for guilt will belong to Adonai, that is, to the Cohen — in addition to the ram of atonement through which atonement is made for him.

“‘Every contribution which the people of Isra’el consecrate and present to the Cohen will belong to him. 10 Anything an individual consecrates will be his own [to allocate among the Cohanim], but what a person gives to the Cohen will belong to him.’”

                                                      Application

We need to acknowledge that G-Ds word is eternal it doesn’t pass away. Numbers 5:5-10 still has application in our lives today. I would like to discuss for a few minutes what this looks like today. How does the 20% restitution work out today? It does say any sin, it states we are to confess our sin to them or them and the Levite depending on the particular sin and all it involves. How are we to properly live this out?

                                                           Chapter 7

7 1(A: v, S: iv) On the day Moshe finished putting up the tabernacle, he anointed and consecrated it, all its furnishings, and the altar with its utensils. After anointing and consecrating them, the leaders of Isra’el, who were heads of their father’s clans, made an offering. These were the tribal leaders in charge of those counted in the census. They brought their offering before Adonai, six covered wagons and twelve oxen — a wagon for every two leaders and for each an ox — and presented them in front of the tabernacle

10 The leaders brought the offering for dedicating the altar on the day it was anointed. The leaders brought their offering before the altar, 11 and Adonai said to Moshe, “They are to present their offerings to dedicate the altar, each leader on his own day.”

                                             Questions to Ponder

In modern times anointing is a dot of oil on someone's head .What is the anointing in the context of the tabernacle?

Consecration –I don’t think this is just a prayer off the cuff. What was the process? I came to understand through discussion  that the word the ESV has translated consecration in Hebrew is Kadosh- Holy: to set apart from all that is profane  for/to G-D.

                          Chapter 7 Continued

13 And his offering was one silver plate whose weight was 130 shekels, one silver basin of 70 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering; 14 one golden dish of 10 shekels, full of incense; 15 one bull from the herd, one ram, one male lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; 16 one male goat for a sin offering; 17 and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

Everything has a specific reason - What do we know about the whys here: silver plate, silver basin, golden dish. Why each of the animals {bull, ram. goat, lamb, plus more.

                                            Take up Lift Up

If we take up repentance/restitution we will be lifted up enabling us to be in process toward intimacy with G-D and be a blessing to others. Repentance puts us at the Brazen altar for those in Messiah think Torah and Romans 12:1-2. It is a holiness process with many steps and decisions to be worked out with fear and trembling Philippians 2:12 to be able to enter the Holy Presence of our G-D.

If we practice holiness- setting ourselves apart from the profane we can walk more deeply and consistently in   in the fullness of All scripture says he has for us at times possibly including official Anointing’s in front of the congregation of G-D for a specific assignment. Walking in the full holiness, repentance, Anointing and power of G-D is going to be absolutely critical in the days ahead. We are going to need wisdom discernment all of the Fruit of the Spirit, gifts of Spirit holiness, discernment wisdom and all G-D has for us in the days ahead. I exhort all to pursue the G-D of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with your whole being! Shalom
