Pinchas    Phinehas — פנחס

Numbers 27:1-11 | The Daughters of Tz’lof’chad

27 1 Then the daughters of Tz’lof’chad the son of Hefer, the son of Gil‘ad, the son of Machir, the son of M’nasheh, of the families of M’nasheh, the son of Yosef, approached. These were the names of his daughters: Machlah, No‘ah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirtzah. They stood in front of Moshe, El‘azar the cohen, the leaders and the whole community at the entrance to the tent of meeting and said, “Our father died in the desert. He wasn’t part of the group who assembled themselves to rebel against Adonai in Korach’s group, but he died in his own sin, and he had no sons. Why should the name of our father be eliminated from his family just because he didn’t have a son? Give us property to possess along with the brothers of our father.” Moshe brought their cause before Adonai.

(iv) Adonai answered Moshe, “The daughters of Tz’lof’chad are right in what they say. You must give them property to be inherited along with that of their father’s brothers; have what their father would have inherited pass to them. Moreover, say to the people of Isra’el, ‘If a man dies and does not have a son, you are to have his inheritance pass to his daughter. If he doesn’t have a daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 If his father doesn’t have brothers, give his inheritance to the closest relative in his family, and he will possess it. This will be the standard for judgment to be used by the people of Isra’el, as Adonai ordered Moshe.’”

                                COMMUNITY STANDING/INHERITANCE

        I chose this section because of all the issues in society today. Many in society say they want what is just good or right. There are many who have emotional scares because of their life experiences somewhere in the world. Our world is sooooooooo broken because of mankind individually and in larger groups walking away from the ways of The Kingdom of Heaven.

      So in practical daily life what does a just and loving G-D say concerning community standing and inheritance? Let’s peak in and see what we can glean.

POINTS AT ISSUE TO CONSIDER

v       Then the daughters of Tz’lof’chad the son of Hefer, the son of Gil‘ad, the son of Machir, the son of M’nasheh, of the families of M’nasheh, the son ofYosef, approached. These were the names of his daughters: Machlah, No‘ah,Hoglah, Milkah and Tirtzah.  {Plantiffs in issue}

v  They stood in front of Moshe, El‘azar the cohen, the leaders and the whole    community at the entrance to the tent of meeting{who  they are  presenting their case to } {Proper authorities in the community}

v   “Our father died in the desert. He wasn’t part of the group who assembled themselves to rebel against Adonai in Korach’s group, but he died in his own sin, { situation  not part of the rebellion, acknowledged their  fathers sin like others who fell in the wilderness}.

v  We have no brothers does that mean our  fathers’ name should  forgotten and we not inherit.{?what is our provision /what is our inheritance/ how does our father/ family name continue}

MOSES SEAKS AD-NAI FOR WISDOM

        AD-NAI S’ Response

        The daughters of Tz’lof’chad are right

You must give them property to be inherited along with that of their father’s brothers; have what their father would have inherited pass to them. {Action required}

‘If a man dies and does not have a son, you are to have his inheritance pass to his daughter. If he doesn’t have a daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 If his father doesn’t have brothers, give his inheritance to the closest relative in his family, and he will possess it.{ case law standards for future inheritance issues}

G-D IS FAIR, JUST, COMPASSIONATE, SEES THE END FROM THE BEGINNING.

APPLICATION FOR TODAY

So what should we take away?

When an issues presents itself it would be wise to get an accurate big picture first.

Second when working through to a solution we must frame our response within the ways of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Third we should make decision which will make sense in the particular circumstance but have a strong ability to apply in related but different circumstance.

All issues should be decided in a fair, just, and compassionate manner with an eye on the whole picture past present future.

None of this one standard for thee but not for me.

May we all walk in His ways Shalom,

Tree of life
